Haven Pinot Noir
Wine
Kooyong Haven Pinot Noir is made from a small plot of vines in the winery's Haven Block at Tuerong on the Mornington Peninsula. True to its name, Haven Block is Kooyong's most sheltered site.
Without exposure to strong coastal winds, the vines keep their rich green canopy until late in the ripening season, protecting the fruit. The handpicked grapes are destemmed for fermentation with ambient yeasts.
The wine is pressed and racked into new and seasoned French oak barrels for natural malolactic fermentation and maturation over 14 months. It is racked once and bottled without fining or filtration.
Crimson purple, Kooyong Haven Pinot Noir is densely built with layered red and black fruit flavours, firm, fine tannins and a spicy line of acidity. Cellaring potential is seven years.
